PEEBLES, Ohio – Off to a consistent start in 2016 with four top-five finishes in as many races, Fairland, Ind. racer Cale Thomas is set to make his first start of the season with the World of Outlaws. Thomas is coming off a runner-up finish at Brushcreek Motorsports Complex in Peebles, Ohio with the Ohio Valley Sprint Car Association last Saturday night.

On that night, Thomas hotly contested every portion of on-track action. After qualifying second overall, the driver of the Engler Machine No. 91 started outside the front row in heat two. He moved into the lead early and won that preliminary event.

Heat one winner Ryan Broughton would start on the pole of the 25-lap main event, with Thomas to his outside. The racing was intense between those two competitors throughout the race. Thomas initially took the point, appearing to be on his way to his first career sprint car victory. Two yellow flags in the race gave Broughton new life each time, and he was able to use the latter of the two to capture the lead. Thomas gave chase, but was unable to track him down and settled for the second-place result.

“Awesome racing,” Thomas summed up briefly. “He is really good here.” He went on to comment on the tracks hosting the upcoming Outlaw events. “I was fast at Plymouth last May with the All Stars, but didn’t finish because of trouble with the throttle linkage.” In addition, Thomas’ first sprint car podium finish came at Tri-State Speedway with the Midwest Open Wheel Association in 2014. He looks ahead to both tracks with excitement, especially since many of the full-time Outlaws have never raced at Plymouth.

Thomas would like to thank Engler Machine and Tool, Factory Kahne, J&J Auto Racing, Kaeding Performance, Donovan Engineering, Spike Products, Simpson Racing Products, Maxima Oils, Hoosier Racing Tire, Blackbeard, and Shadow Graphix, as well as his family and fans for their continued support.

Thomas is next scheduled to compete on May 13 at Plymouth (Ind.) Speedway and on May 14 at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind. with the World of Outlaws, both in the No. 91 410ci winged sprint entry.
