Matt Hits Victory Lane With His First Career 410 Win
All the nights that ended with bad luck and frustration for Matt and the Team went right out the window Friday night when Matt drove under the checkered flag for his first career 410 win at Williams Grove Speedway.
With the second half of the season still plagued with rain outs and bad luck, the team continued to work hard and stay positive. Some nights this was hard to do when the black cloud still seemed to be looming overhead. One such night Matt was running 7th with 3 to go and the hood came lose forcing him to pull in. Another night running 2nd when his tire started to slowly go flat after an earlier track incident had him tagging the inside wall. He started falling backwards and eventually had to pull in under another driver's caution as his tire had gone entirely flat.
With what seems like a lot of bad luck has also come with some good runs this 2nd half. Not counting his win on Friday, Matt has finished in the top 5 3 more times. Matt has been time trialing very well at most races including making his first appearance in 2 dash's this season.
Friday night Matt and the car were dialed in just right. Matt won his heat race putting him in the 6th starting position for the A Main. He was running a good line and took the lead at lap 10. Making his way thru lapped traffic and hitting his marks for the remaining 15 laps, Matt finished with a margin of 4.578 over the 2nd place car.
With 7 races remaining for 2017 Matt hopes to continue the good luck and try for win #2.
