Solwold Sweeps ASCS Northwest Weekend at Grays Harbor!
ASCS Northwest Media, ELMA, Wash. (May 29, 2011) – Former ASCS Northwest Champion Roger Crockett swept the first weekend of ASCS action in Cottage Grove earlier this month and now defending ASCS Northwest Champion Jason Solwold has swept the Memorial Day weekend in Elma. It’s fixin’ to be another battle for the championship in the ASCS Northwest region.
Solwold led all 30 laps of a high speed, seven minute-seventeen second, green to checker feature race owning the two day event at Grays Harbor Raceway. “The track was awesome,” Solwold shared in victory lane. “You could run the top and the bottom. I chose the middle.”
This marks the second ASCS Northwest win this season and the seventh ASCS win overall for the Shark-powered Xtreme Oilfield Technology/Scott Safety/Northern Provincial Pipelines No. 39c Maxim team.
ASCS National driver Seth Bergman from Snohomish ran a solid race chasing Solwold through lap traffic as he moved up one spot for a second place finish. Oregon’s Garen Linder put the Shark Racing Engine he won at last year’s ASCS Northwest banquet to good use by holding on to claim the final podium position of the night. Skagit Speedway favorite Travis Jacobson slid into fourth with Enumclaw’s Henry Van Dam capping off the top five.
The 2010 Sprint Car Hall of Fame Rookie of the Year Trey Starks finished sixth with seventh place going to Roger Crockett, the point leader coming into the evening. Mitch Olson, Johnny Herrera and Rick Fauver complete the top ten.
Solwold, Van Dam and Bergman won heat races with Reece Goetz winning the “B” Main.
