Courtney Guns for another Terre Haute Score after Two More Podium Appearances

Lonnie Wheatley, INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (October 12, 2018) – The Terre Haute Action Track has been good for Tyler Courtney and the Clauson-Marshall-Newman Racing Priority Aviation No. 7bc USAC Sprint Car team in 2018.

Already with two wins atop the storied half-mile clay oval this season, “Sunshine” will try to run his overall win total to 14 in Friday night’s Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car “Wabash Clash”.

Courtney won the “Hulman Classic” at THAT on May 22 and then backed it up with an Indiana Sprintweek win on July 25 before settling for a seventh-place showing in the most recent THAT outing on September 14.

Courtney has kept himself right there in the USAC National Sprint Car title mix with another pair of podium finishes in the series most recent outings before last weekend’s pair of events in Missouri and Kansas fell victim to rain.

Following Friday’s Terre Haute card, all that remains on the USAC Sprint Car slate is a pair of west caost weekends including the Western World Championships at Arizona Speedway on November 2-3 and then Perris Auto Speedway’s Oval Nationals in California on November 8-10.

Courtney’s most recent weekend of action included a runner-up finish in the Kokomo Smackdown finale on Thursday, September 27, and then a third-place run at Lawrenceburg Speedway on September 29 after a 17th-place Gas City the previous night.

“I wish it would have stayed green there under that run, we were just a little off after that yellow,” Courtney said of his runner-up showing at the Smackdown.

After Gas City struggles, Courtney bounced right back with another strong podium finish at Lawrenceburg. “It was one of those night you hope that you don’t have. But that’s racing, you have your ups and downs,” Courtney said of the Gas City showing. “We had a heck of a rebound tonight, starting seventh and coming up to third was a really good night.”

Courtney looks to build upon a USAC National Sprint Car series top total of ten wins with Friday night’s Wabash Clash at the Terre Haute Action Track.
