Hunter Fischer
Valley Speedway Blues
The Fischer Racing team, based out of Tulsa, OK, travelled 4 hours North to join the POWRi National and POWRi West co-sanctioned event at Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, MO. 40 competitors converged on the 1/3 mile banked dirt track to show off their skills in front of a packed house. Drawing a #60 to start the night, Hunter Fischer started 7th in the 3rd of 5 heat races. The track was fast up top and spread everyone out in the 8 lap shootout. The car setup kept us in place, finishing 7th and put us in a B feature.
24 cars were split up into 2 B features, placing the top 2 finishers at the rear of the A feature. Starting in the 7th position again, the Flying Tee sponsored #24 made it up to 5th after a couple of early cautions. On the next sequence of laps, Hunter piloted the Esslinger powered Stealth into 2nd place, navigating the tricky bottom section of the track with great success. The laps didn’t wind down fast enough as another car was able to take advantage of a high exit out of turn 4 to take the 2nd spot. Undeterred, Fischer battled to find enough bite around the track tires to gain the advantage back. Side by side, tires touched and sent the #24 into the air like a short lob wedge, ending our night officially in the 9th position. Hunter is a tough character with a few extra bumps and bruises to show off. The car was unable to be repaired for Saturday’s race at Lucas Oil Speedway (one of our favorites!) After replacing the 2 broken shocks, 2 crushed nerf bars, a bent axle and steering rod, a missing torsion stop, and a broken GoPro camera, we will be back in action at our home track, Port City Raceway, on May 12.
As with most grassroots motorsports, the ups are fewer than the downs. The journey is what we cherish as a father-son team and can’t thank our sponsors enough. Thank you Flying Tee Golf on the Riverwalk in Jenks, B&C Custom Woodworks, Bolted Spine Designs, FabTech, and Skips Performance Corner. If you would like to join us as a sponsor, please contact us. We would love to speak with you!
