West Coast Trip Ends with a Fifth Place Finish at Antioch
Chad Kemenah and the rest of the World of Outlaws teams had a very busy week on the Gold Rush Tour that started in Washington and ended on Sunday evening at the Antioch Speedway in Antioch, California.
Kemenah started the 30-Lap feature event in the third position and when the action got going he had his hands full racing against Kyle Hirst for the third position. Hirst would gain the upper hand on Kemenah as he was able to find the rubber down on the track first as motor away from the white and blue No.63 machine.
Racing in the early part of the feature was crucial because the entire track ended up taking rubber forcing the drivers to run a freight train style race with no passing at all. Kemenah was able to run smooth and consistent laps as he crossed the finish line in the fifth position.
“Anytime we can finish in the top five I will take it,” said Kemenah. “The racetrack took rubber and there was very little passing out there, I feel bad for the fans because they paid pretty good money to come out here and see us race and a rubber down track is not fun at all. I have to thank my only crew guy Matt for working his tail off this past week we are both pretty tired, but this top five finish will give us a little boost for our trip to Spencer, Iowa. I have thank everyone that supports this race team Hampshire Racing Engines, Maxim Chassis, K&N Filters, Champion Racing Oil, Tony Depalma at Radio Hospital, MS Motorsports, Media Camping Centers and All Pro Cylinder Heads.”
Next on the schedule is the Clay County Fair in Spencer, Iowa. Kemenah has had some success racing on 3/8 mile in recent years. Kemenah has scored numerous top ten finishes at the facility and last June the Alvada, Ohio driver took home a fourth place finish which was his first ever top five finish at the Clay County Fair.
“Last June we ran 90% of the feature in second place and the final three laps were a dogfight to the finish and we ended finishing in the fourth position,” said Kemenah. “The Clay County Fair is a nice track with a lot of room to race on and I have always enjoyed racing there, it’s got a great atmosphere in September because of the fair and I would really like to get a win there. Right now we have to stay consistent and if we can do that I am confident we can finish the year off with a couple of wins.”
On Saturday, September 14th, Kemenah and the World of Outlaws will invade the action packed Deer Creek Speedway, in Spring Valley, Minnesota. Deer Creek Speedway has quickly become one of Minnesota’s best kept secrets and the racing there is top notch and Chad Kemenah certainly likes the high banked 3/8 mile track. Last September, Kemenah picked up a fifth place finish in front of a standing room only crowd and since that finish Kemenah has been looking forward to racing there again.
“Deer Creek Speedway is a neat place, every time I have raced there the track has been in perfect condition and the racing is pretty intense,” says Kemenah. “Last year we finished in the fifth position and I am pretty excited to get back there because it’s a fun track that keeps you on the edge of your seat all race long. I am looking forward to getting back out to the Midwest we have a lot of supporters of our race team that live out there and hopefully things go our way.”
