Zearfoss finds podium during All Star action at Virginia Motor Speedway
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
JONESTOWN, Pa. (April 15, 2019) - The ‘Jonestown Jet’ Brock Zearfoss returned to All Star Circuit of Champions competition in a big way during the recent weekend, opening the 2019 All Star points battle, officially, with a podium run during Thursday Night Thunder action at Virginia Motor Speedway on Thursday, April 11.
Zearfoss, driver of the Premier Motorsports/Moose’s LZ Bar & Grill/Heavy Equipment, Loaders & Parts Inc./BAPS Auto Paint & Supply/Meckley's Limestone Products/Berkebile Oil Company/River City Wood Products/No. 70 sprint car, finished third during his first-ever visit to the state-of-the-art Virginia Motor Speedway, moving ahead from the inside of row three.
In fact, Zearfoss was in the hunt for a win during all 30 circuits, actually closing-in on Danny Dietrich and Cory Eliason, the lead pair, during an intense battle in traffic with just five circuits remaining. Unfortunately, a caution with two laps remaining erased all hope for Zearfoss, as race leader, Cory Eliason, was left with an open track and clean air.
“We were right there,” Zearfoss explained regarding Thursday’s finish. “That caution with two laps remaining really took me out of it, not unless something would have happened to Eliason or Dietrich. Regardless, I’m proud of my team and all of their hard work. To come out of the box and be that fast says something about this team. We have a long points season ahead with the All Stars. We’re excited to be here.”
Although on pace to score a second-consecutive top-ten performance with the All Star Circuit of Champions, Zearfoss’ luck ran short during Port Royal Speedway’s Keith Kauffman Classic on Saturday evening, April 13, eventually suffering from a flat right-rear tire that forced the nearby-Jonestown, Pennsylvania-native to exit the main event early; he was scored 25th after starting 11th.
All Star competition set for Friday and Sunday, April 12 & 14, at Williams Grove Speedway and Bedford Speedway, respectively, was cancelled due to Mother Nature.
Brock Zearfoss and Premier Motorsports will continue their 2019 All Star Circuit of Champions campaign with a two-day visit to Attica Raceway Park on Friday and Saturday, April 19 & 20. The former Port Royal Speedway track champion will enter the Core & Main Spring Nationals tied for ninth in the current All Star driver championship standings.
