New England Dwarf Car Series

Harwood wins the battle; Harris wins the war!

Claremont, NH – The New England Dwarf Car Series rolled into the Claremont Motorsports Park for the fall final weekend to wrap up their sophomore season. Justin Harris (29NH) came into the day 71 points above second place in points Chris Sullivan (0No). All Harris would need to do is take the green flag and pass technical inspection to capture the 2023 championship title. 16 dwarf cars in total showed up to do battle; with Tom Harwood (29) and Ryan Carman (08) sitting atop the speed charts after the first round of practice but in round two Jason Hodgdon (31h) and Andrew Harmon (14) moved themselves to the front of the class. Reviewing the lap times from the second round of practice showed the top 9 within a tenth of each other pointing towards an exciting night of racing!

Harmon captured the win in the first heat race by barely a noise over Cody Hodgdon (31) and Harwood took the win in second heat. Harmon pulled a 3 chip putting Cody Hodgdon on the pole for the feature. Harwood would jump out to the early lead with heavy racing action behind him with cars swapping positions multiple times each lap. Lap 17 would see the lone caution fly as someone lost their exhaust in turn 1. Jason Hodgdon who took over the 2nd spot on lap 9 and had been chasing Harwood would have his best chance of the race to take the top spot on the restart. Jason Hodgdon would try high and low to get by Harwood but just couldn’t get the run off the corner he needed to make the pass. Just as Harwood took the checkered flag a spinning car in turn three collected 3 other cars causing the race to end under yellow. Harwood took the win followed by Jason Hodgdon, Zig Geno (92z), Harris, and Ryan Carman wrapping up the top 5 finishers. Because of this wreck it took a video review and comparison of the electronic and hand scoring to get an official finish.
