Brian Shirley
Top-10 finish with World of Outlaws at Talladega Short Track
Back in action on Tuesday afternoon, Brian Shirley entered his Bob Cullen Racing No. 3s Late Model into battle at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) for the opening round of the Castrol FloRacing Night in America miniseries.
Drawing 54 Late Models, Brian’s seventh-to-fifth run in his heat race relegated him into a B-Main for another shot at the $23,023-to-win A-Main. Taking the top-two, Shirley missed a transfer spot by two cars with a fourth-place outing.
For the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series-sanctioned Seymour Showdown on Thursday night at 411 Motor Speedway (Seymour, Tenn.), Shirley secured his spot into the main event with a third-place finish in his heat. With $20,000 on the line, Brian dropped two spots in the 40-lap affair to finish 12th.
In a field of 62 World of Outlaws entries on Friday at Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Ala.) for the two-day Alabama Gang 100, Shirley followed up the fourth-fastest qualifying effort in his group with a fourth-to-second run in his 20-lap preliminary feature. He trailed Tanner English across the line with Drake Troutman rounding out the podium.
With his spot already locked into the dash on Saturday based on his preliminary finish on Friday, Brian recorded a fourth-place finish. Starting the $50,000-to-win Alabama Gang 100 feature in fourth, Shirley dropped three positions in the 60-lap affair to finish seventh.
Brian is currently tied for third in the latest World of Outlaws point standings.
