Shirley attends double World 100's at Eldora Speedway
Bob Cullen Motorsports and Brian Shirley trekked to Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) on Wednesday afternoon to compete in preliminary action for the 51st annual World 100. With the massive 80-car field divided into two groups, Shirley edged his way into the feature with the fifth-and-final transfer spot in his heat race. Earning the sixth-starting position for his heat race on Thursday, Brian gained four spots to register a runner-up finish. Locked into the 11th-starting position for the $54,000-to-win World 100, Shirley was an early retiree from the 100-lapper on the 65th circuit.
For another round of preliminary features on Friday as the 50th annual World 100 kicked off, Shirley’s second-place finish in his heat race placed him eighth on the starting grid for the A-Main. With $10,000 on the line, Brian brought out a caution while running in sixth with rearend trouble.
Rolling off fifth for his heat race on Saturday, Brian was running in a transfer spot when he was taken out by another competitor, ending his run at the $53,000-to-win World 100.
