Top-10 finish in Show-Me 100 at Lucas Oil Speedway

After Mother Nature shifted Thursday’s event to Friday afternoon, Brian Shirley was one of 58 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries registered at Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Mo.) for the Cowboy Classic. Later Friday night for the Tribute to Don & Billie Gibson, Brian passed four cars in his eight-lap heat to pick up the win. Locked on the pole for the $6,000-to-win A-Main, Shirley set the pace for the first six circuits before fading back to eighth-place finish when the checkered flag flew.

With his preliminary results on Friday locking him into 14th-starting position for Saturday night’s $30,000-to-win Show-Me 100, Shirley gained four spots in the 100-lapper to place 10th.

On Sunday, Brian stopped at Spoon River Speedway (Banner, Ill.) for the MARS Racing Series sanctioned contest. With a heat race victory pinning him on the pole for the $5,000-to-win A-Main, Shirley dropped six spots to register a seventh-place finish.
