Shirley Resumes Speedweeks Competition at Volusia

After a brief break in the action, Brian Shirley returned to Florida Speedweeks competition on Monday night at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla. (Josh James Artwork) In a field of 51 entries for the opening round of the 50th Annual DIRTcar Nationals, Shirley posted a runner-up finish in his heat race. Earning the 12th position on the starting grid, Brian advanced one spot in the 30-lapper to finish 11th.

The following night, Shirley edged his way into the $7,000-to-win feature with the third and final transfer spot in his heat race. Starting in 16th, Brian was an early retiree from the 30-lap affair.
