Hodges Motorsports Update - USA Raceway

We just finished up here at the USA Raceway in Tucson, AZ. The event was delayed by sprinkles and rain a couple times but we finally got it in. I started out pulling pill 27 to start 5th in the 1st heat race. The track was narrow and heavy because of all the moisture, and it was very difficult to pass. I jumped to 4th on the start of the heat race, and was hot on the heels of 2nd and 3rd. With just a handful of laps to go, I got by for 3rd and on the final lap, I got by for 2nd. That made me the top point getter in the heat races, so I got the first draw in the top 8 re-draw, and I pulled number 8. The track widened out and got a slick black streak through the middle, but it was hammer down wherever you could find moisture. I fell in running 8th and got by a car for 7th early, but the car was coming to me. There was a red flag on lap 9, and I tried the bottom on the restart, and I got by for 6th, but there was a yellow and I had to move back. Once again I got another car on the restart around the bottom, and there was another yellow, but this time I got to keep my spot. I was making good time around the bottom, but soon it got slick and went away so I had to move back up. I went up to 5th, but on the last lap, I got passed while boxed in by a lap car, so I ended up finishing 6th. I felt that I could have kept moving forward as the track seemed to come to me, but I ran out of time. All in all it was an alright night, while we wish we would have done better, we are happy to roll it into the trailer in one piece. We are still unsure about next week's plans, but there is a possibility will head east to Cowtown Speedway in Kennedale, TX for the 2 day show going on Friday and Saturday night.
