Hodges Motorsports Update - Thunder Raceway

The night of racing is over here at Thunder Raceway in Show Low, AZ. The night was filled with action. I pulled pill number 11 which put me inside the second row of the second heat race. The track was still tacky and fast with a small black streak up top for the heat races, and I got a bad start and never got going to gain ground so I finished 5th. We were disapointed with the heat race run, and it put us in a deep hole for the main. I started the main form the outside of the fifth row. It went slick in a hurry in 1 and 2, but stayed fairly good in 3 and 4. I began picking off cars one by one, most all of them using the bottom line, and I found myself running fifth with a late caution. On the start, I got by for fourth but got bottleknecked on the bottom and fell back to fifth again, which is where I would finish. At the very end of the race, I went to the top in 1 and 2 and it felt pretty good, but it was already too late. We seemed like we got behind right from the get go, and it made the rest of the night tougher. The car was fast, but there wasn't the passing lanes to do much, unless you were quite a bit faster. Congratulations to Johnny Herrera for taking home the win, and to Kenny and Mike Brewer for winning the pit crew challenge and a new mini sprint. The next stop for the Benic Enterprises, Mesilla Valley Transportation No. 74x will be back at USA Raceway once again next weekend on October 2nd.
