Ryan Unzicker grabs a pair of MARS podiums at FCR & Adams County
A tripleheader weekend with the MARS Late Model Championship Series brought Ryan Unzicker to Farmer City (IL) Raceway on Friday for the 14th annual Jr. Kimler Memorial.
With 35 Late Models entered for the opener, Unzicker timed in second-fastest in his qualifying group before placing second in his heat. Gunning for the $5,000 payday in the feature, Ryan advanced forward four spots in the 40-lapper to register a third-place finish.
At Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 (Pevely, Mo.) on Saturday, Ryan was one of several cars eliminated from the feature after a rainstorm overnight led to rough track conditions.
Unzicker’s weekend concluded with a runner-up finish in the MARS finale at Adams County Speedway (Quincy, Ill.) on Sunday night. He joined race-winner Dennis Erb Jr. and Jason Feger on the podium.
Ryan remains in second in the latest MARS Late Model Championship Series point standings.
