Blurton Races to Runner-Up Result to Best Friend and Teammate

Inside Line Promotions – EAGLE, Neb. (May 1, 2018) – Two best friends teamed up last Saturday at Eagle Raceway to have some fun racing sprint cars. That fun resulted in a team sweep with Adam Gullion picking up the win over Zach Blurton in International Motor Contest Association competition at the bullring.

“To come out here and compete in a car I had never sat in and finish second to Adam, what a fantastic feeling,” said Blurton, who noted he put his engine in Gullion’s backup car to take advantage of the opportunity.

The night didn’t start well as mechanical woes caused Blurton to miss hot laps. However, the crew went to work and got the problem fixed. He started on the pole of his heat race and won just as Gullion had done earlier.

“Because we missed hot laps I went into that heat blind, but the car was good,” Blurton said. “I got a good pill draw and wouldn’t you know it Adam and I started on the front row together.”

In the feature Gullion got the jump, but Blurton hung around, utilizing the bottom of the track.

“Adam was running the top and I got hooked up on the bottom,” he said. “We took the white flag side by side. There was a lapped car running the top and I had to slow down to catch the bottom and going into turn one Adam put a slider on the lapped car and that was the difference.

“On Friday Adam ran a non-wing 600 (micro sprint) and I helped him out. We didn’t have a clue what we were doing, but he got the win. We just had an unbelievable weekend. It was so much fun.”

Blurton said he and Gullion will team up again this Saturday at Eagle Raceway and a few other times during the summer.
