Jamie Ball- Bad Luck Strikes Again
(White Lightning Motorsports) – July 31, 2010 –
This week the Delta Oil #5J would race on Saturday July 31, 2010 at the Knoxville Raceway. This week we would finally get back our 360 engine from Ostrich Racing Engines. I was excited to get back out on the track.
Throughout the past few weeks it has been a struggle to get through a full night at the Knoxville Raceway in the 360 class. We had finally gotten our engine back and it was fresh and ready to race. I would go out on July 31st and time in a solid fifteenth place. This would line me up second row inside (3rd) of the third heat race. The green flag flew and I would lose two spots and sit in the final transfer. One lap later the #6 of Danny Heskin would get by me coming off turn four for the final transfer. I was not going to give up; I was determined to get the final transfer to the A-Main. With two laps to go I would slide Heskin and secure the fifth and final transfer position. After the checkered flag flew I would stay on the gas until I was coming into turn three. As I let off the gas pedal on the backstretch a big puff of smoke would come out of our Ostrich Racing Engine. I would go onto make weight and come back into my pit area. I was excited that I had raced my way into the A-Main and that I would have a shot at catching the invert and being able to start at the front of the 360 A-Main. Little did I know that the big puff of smoke was a sign that our engine was once again not going to be able to make the entire night. We would call Lee Nelson of Ostrich Racing Engines down to check things over. Lee got down and pulled the spark plugs out of the engine and he would see signs that the engine was getting ready to blow up. Those engine problems would once again end our night of racing. We were scheduled to start fifth row outside (10th) of the 360 A-Main.
This week the White Lightning Motorsports Team plans to race on Friday August 6, 2010 at the Knoxville Raceway. We will be getting our 360 engine back this week just in time for 360 nationals. Come out and support myself and the rest of the White Lightning Motorsports race team at Knoxville Raceway this Saturday.
