Jamie Ball- Outlaw Weekend Recap
(White Lightning Motorsports) – June 10, 2010 –

This week would be full of racing for the Delta Oil #5J. First off on Thursday I would race my 305 sprint car at Knoxville Raceway. Then on Friday, 6 Time Knoxville Raceway Track Champion Randy Smith would drive the Delta Oil #5J in the Masters Classic (Drivers over 50 years of age). Lastly, on Saturday I would be scheduled to race my 360 at Knoxville Raceway.

Thursday- This weekend the World of Outlaws were in town for a three day race weekend. Thursday would have the 305 sprint car class being the support class to the World of Outlaws. The night would start out with drawing#27. During hot laps we had some problems and the engine wouldn’t run over 6200 RPM. After hot laps we changed the fuel settings in hopes of fixing the engine problem. The Delta Oil #5J up in the 5th starting position in heat race three. Well the race started and once again the engine wouldn’t run over 6500 RPM and I would go on to finish 6th place. Next up is the 305 A-Main, I would line up in 18th starting position. The green flag would drop and I would pass quite a few cars until getting behind a slowing car. I had nowhere to go and I couldn’t get past him for a lap due to other cars running the low side. I would fall back to about 20th. From then on I was able to make a charge forward to a 13th place finishing position. Overall it was a good run after we got the engine to run good again.

Friday- Friday night was the World of Outlaws with the Masters Classic supporting them. There were 15 cars entered in the Masters Classic. Some of the notables were Randy Smith, Danny Lasoski and Sammy Swindell. Randy Smith would be piloting the White Lightning Motorsports #5J. In time trials Randy would finish 4th quick. This would set him up for a 3rd place starting position in heat two. The heat would start and Lasoski would jump out to an early lead, Randy would file into a comfortable second place and that is where he would finish. Next up was the Masters Classic 22 lap A-Main. Randy would line up in 3rd place, the green flag would drop and Randy would lose one position and file into a comfortable 4th place. On lap 20 the #5J would go up in smoke coming off turn 2 and that would end the night for the White Lightning Motorsports Team.

Saturday- Saturday night we would be scheduled to race the 360 as the support class for the World of Outlaws. Mother Nature would be declared the victor and the races would be canceled.

My team and I are very excited for this weekend’s race at Knoxville Raceway. We will be getting our 360 engine back from Ostrich Racing Engines on Friday. It is going to be fresh and ready to go for this weekend. We look forward to having a good weekend of racing.
