Sheppard podiums in Yankee Dirt Track Classic opener at 300 Raceway
With the World of Outlaws (WoO) Case Late Model Series sitting idle over the Labor Day weekend, Brandon Sheppard entered his Dude Wipes No. B5 Late Model into battle with the XR Super Series on Friday evening at 300 Raceway (Farley, Iowa) for the 47th annual Yankee Dirt Track Classic.
Chasing a $15,000 preliminary payday in Friday’s opener, Sheppard followed up a third-place heat outing with a seventh-to-third run in the 40-lap feature. He joined race-winner Bobby Pierce and Ryan Gustin on the podium.
On Saturday, Brandon’s third-place heat finish positioned him on the fifth row for the $50,047-to-win Yankee Dirt Track Classic finale. Joining several drivers who were mired by a flat tire, Sheppard rallied after a lap-35 flat to finish sixth in the 60-lap affair.
Brandon is currently eighth in the latest XR Super Series point standings.
