The Fiat is BACK!!
MPG Racing has announced that Nitro Joe is bringing back the Fiat Altered that he raced from 2006 until he parked the car after 2018 to focus on pursuing a full time Top Fuel career. The team is planning to race the car at several match races as well as compete at a handful of NHRA Division 1 and National events in the Top Dragster category.
Joe's longtime friend Mike McCormick joined the team and supplied the new powerplant, a 482 cubic inch alcohol burning big block Chevy with a Mooneyham 14-71 high helix supercharger. The two are expecting the car to run in the upper 6 second range.
"This car and I have a lot of great memories. I'm stoked to bring it back out! With the support of PennGrade1 Racing Oil, we'll be sure to slip a bunch of races between events driving other cars." Joe remarked. "I'm grateful that Mike decided he wanted to go racing. We're putting the finishing touches on the car at my friend Rocky Pirrone's shop and plan to make test runs in April. We should be ready for the Division 1 event at Cecil County Dragway."
