Reimer Races For 2, Kelly where were you??

On a crisp evening, FOE Enterprises welcomed in 36 Super Stocks for the Double S Dirt Works Challenge. In the event’s second year John, Jake, Glenn and the track crew had the surface prepped for speed and smoothness. The 4 heat races did not disappoint as we watched Aaron Poe take heat race one honors, followed up by Aaron Halpain winning heat race two. In heat race three Jerrod Reimer got to the point and did not look back on his way to another heat race win. That left heat race 4 open for Brian Parker to steal the show winning the last heat of the night. With 12 cars locked into the 20 car field the night turned its attention to the future of our sport the kids of racing!

81 speedway welcomed 20+ Power Wheels racers to the front straightaway for their own Challenge race brought to you by Broadway Truck and Auto, and Allied Battery!!! The Kids had their Hot Rods decked out with numbers, fresh paint, and were locked and loaded for action. At the end in the Feature it was the youngster Lucas Esparza taking the trophy, a bicycle and a gift card for winning the inaugural event. Taking home another bicycle and gift card for second place Kyndric Reimer, and finishing on the podium was Taleeah Shockey nabbing the last gift card and bicycle! We want to thank Skylin and Jayce for putting the event together and the entire fire and safety crew and all of the staff at the speedway for the work pulling this event off!!

When Super Stock Racing action continued the B-feature rolled onto the track looking to qualify the last 8 cars for the A-Main, wasting no time was Chris Pitts in the poster child 901 car winning easily with a blazing fast pace.

The Double S Dirt Works A Feature field was ushered in under the Musco Light Show DJ’ed by our own Jeremy Heim. After the overall passing point leader Alan Blevins passed up his frisbee redraw to take on the Logans Landscape and Tree service contest choosing to start 6th for $500 additional prize money on the line if he was to win!! When the green flag waved it went yellow pretty quick and often halting the start for a bit, when the nerves and anticipation cleared so did the path to the front for Blevins, taking the lead around lap 7 he was looking good to take the extra money, but a small mistake in turn two allowed Jerrod Reimer to retake the lead. Reimer led from 19-33 winning his second Super Stock Challenge in a row at 81 Speedway taking home a bad ass Keeper of the plains trophy and a $2000 big check! Blevins 2nd, Kenny Sweet 3rd, Brandon Jarvis 4th and making the scales in 5th was Jason McGehee!

We want to thank our additional event sponsors , Clark’s Crunchies $50 went to 5th Jason McGehee, Above the Cushion $50 to Bevins in 2nd, Area 151 Engineering for Hard Charger went to Blake Green who went up 9 spots. Area 151 Engineering also threw in $100 for the highest finishing 2 barrel carb, going to Aaron Poe, and Buckley Engines gave $100 to Aaron Porter for “HardLuck” award after expiring early in the heat race.

For the nightcap we all anticipated the start of The Broadway Truck and Auto Twister City 150 Enduro Race! In the 36 car field were some heavy hitters like past Winner Kelly Shipman and Nick Sims, (more on them later) The Burris family, Nathan Brownell , and others. The pace for some was frantic, with a “no caution” rule except if track is completely blocked, the race was well over before the 1.5 hour time limit. Shipman and Culver off to a good start and the Yellow 83 leading early it all looked like the same thing, but lurking and pacing themselves was the 4.6jr of Alex Krogmeier and J.R. Sartain as they took over the lead on lap 33 and led thru lap 130. No Show Kelly Shipman was no longer a factor with an electrical issue ending his chances to repeat a victory. The 2C of Colby Hagans sounding like a rocket-ship passed the 4.6jr and took the checkered first, but did not clear tech as being deemed illegal for having performance parts that do not fit the rules. That gave the Victory back to the Black Out Motorsports, Central Spray Foam 4.6jr Mercury Cougar driven by Alex Krogmeier and (his uncle) our own J.R. Sartain!! They ended up 2 laps ahead of the nearest competitor.

  • 81 speedway looks forward to some Enduro races next season brought to you by Diana and Rodney Chaffin from Broadway Truck and Auto!

*Thank you fans, staff, crews, and all that make this thing possible!
