Farr Battles First Win in Pures, Mcgowan's Exciting Comeback, Rehill Dominates
It was a beautiful day and even more beautiful evening as racing resumed at Lake of the Woods Speedway for Friday night action.
First up, the WISSOTA Pure Stocks heat race saw rookie Alexander Farr go from fifth place to first, overtaking Morgan McDonald and Michael Copp early on in the race.
In the feature, Logan McDonald and Alex Mira started on the front row. Mira took the early lead and looked to be pulling away. Meanwhile, Farr battled with Copp and McDonald until Farr was able to clear them both.
It seemed that Farr was starting to gain on the leader, and after a caution due to Jamie Tates, the field bunched up.
On the ensuing restart, Copp's throttle stuck, sending him in the wall. The car came to a stop under the flagstand, with the engine shutdown and a flat tire. Copp was fine, but had to retire the race.
After the cleanup, it would be a six lap battle with Farr and Mira putting on a heck of a side by side battle. Eventually, Farr was able to make the pass on the outside taking his first ever Win in the WISSOTA Pure Stocks!
In the Q104 WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds, Brandon Rehill battled it out once again with Edward Bell. Rehill tried the traditional inside pass at Lake of the Woods Speedway, but Bell kept shutting the door. After a close call coming out of turn four heading to the white flag, Rehill changed things up and challenged on the outside. It was a drag race to turn three. Coming to the line it was Rehill by not much more than a foot.
In the feature, Rehill got the luck of the draw (due to the nationwide network outage) and redrew pole. At the onset of the green flag, Rehill dominated the race. Bell finished second, Pat Davis rounding out the top 3.
In the 4-Cylinders, two heats were on the docket. In heat one, Brodie Mcgowan and Jake Mazur had a great race but it was red Mcgowan car who would take the win. In heat two, Mercedes Audette and Kamea Mulholland swapped and challenged each other throughout the race, but Audette edged out with the win.
In the feature event, Mcgowan started eighth place and for much of it, was stuck battling for fifth place with rookie George Henley Jr.
In fact, the two banged side panels on the backstretch as Mcgowan made a move on the inside. Meanwhile, M. Audette was ahead of Mulholland again and was poised to win her second feature at Lake of the Woods Speedway ever. Mcgowan had other plans as he moved up the race track and started picking off cars.
With just five laps to go, he made the move on M. Audette and never looked back. It is his second career Win at the track.
