McMahan prepared for final pair of Golden State Challenge events

[b ELK GROVE, CA –] After a week off the Golden State Challenge Sprint Car Series returns to action this Saturday night for the first of two remaining events in the 2010 championship racing season. Saturday night, Ocean Speedway in Watsonville will be the battle grounds for the King of California campaign and Elk Grove's Bobby McMahan is ready to get back behind the wheel.
McMahan will return to the fast Ocean Speedway quarter-mile aboard the Bobby McMahan Racing #26 Maxim Sprint Car for the second to last event of the series. The event will mark the xth start of the year for the 2009n Silver Dollar Speedway Champion in the traveling tour for 410 cubic inch powered sprint cars.
"I'm looking forward to going back to Ocean," said McMahan. "The last GSC race the track was really dry due to an event the night before so I'm looking forward to a fast, smooth racetrack that is pretty common at that place."
Two weeks ago, McMahan and the Golden State Challenge Series returned to Marysville Raceway Park. It was the first time in several years that the North State quarter mile hosted the fire breathing 410 sprint cars. When the checkered flag flew at the end of the night it marked a successful return to the speedway for McMahan.
In qualifying, McMahan turned the 5th quickest lap of the night with a 12:627 second lap. The fast trip around the clay in time trials netted McMahan a solid starting position in the 10-lap heat race. In the heat race, McMahan drove to his third preliminary victory of the year in the Golden State Challenge Series and went on to place 5th in the mid-program dash which set the stage for the 30-lap feature event.
Before one of the largest crowds in recent history at Marysville Raceway Park, McMahan drove his way to a 4th place finish in the 30-lap feature event. The race concluded a busy weekend of competition for McMahan and his #26 sprint car, which carried 16-year old Sean McMahan to a ninth place finish in the feature event one night earlier in the Silver Dollar Speedway Feather Falls Casino Championship Series.
The second generation McMahan has been successfully following in his Father's footsteps. Earlier in the night he qualified 16th in the field and then drove his way to victory in the heat race during the Friday night program.
"It was a good weekend for both of us, " said McMahan. "Sean has been doing really well, we're proud of him. Our plan is for me to finish out the season in the #26 car and then we will make our plans for the post season events such as the Gold Cup and the Fall Nationals and see what we can do next."
