“I just wanted to get back into racing no matter what it was.” - Bryan Tapp

“I just wanted to get back into racing no matter what it was.”

As we lead up to one of the biggest races of the year for the Osage Casino & Hotel Tulsa Speedway, we want to feature local racers that visit the track throughout the year!
One of these racers is Bryan Tapp in his #21 Dwarf Car!
Bryan will be competing on Saturday July 27th when the Xtreme Outlaw Series brings their National Midget Series to the track for a wild night of 4 wide action from the best in the sport!!

TSW: How long have you raced?
Bryan: I started racing 125 cc mini sprints when I was 11 back in 1993. Until my mom found out. Then my dad had to sell it and act as if it never happened. After that I ran mini stocks from age 14 -17 and started racing modifieds at age 17 (mom gave her blessing at age 16). I raced under the name Micheal Allen from 14-16 years old….

TSW: How long have you raced Dwarfs?
Bryan: This is my 2nd season in dwarfs. First season was 11 years ago

TSW: Why do you like racing dwarfs?
Bryan: “This is my first year back in a dwarf since 2013. I was completely absent from racing for about 8 years. I got back into it in 2021, thanks to a good friend. Matt Weintz gave me a great opportunity to drive his factory stock. After that, I was in and out of other cars for a couple years. Then me and Greg Byers decided to team up and get a tuner. I just wanted to get back into racing no matter what it was. After trading up several times we ended up with an opportunity that we couldn’t pass up. Ended up being a dwarf car. I remembered 11 years ago how fun these cars were so we pulled the trigger on a brand new renegade chassis.”

TSW: Who is in your pits/crew for this race night?
Bryan: Co-Owner: Greg Byers, Crew: Tyler Dixon, Steve Dixon, Austin Byers

TSW: Goal for the night?
Bryan: We have been slowly upgrading and replacing every component on this race car. I know a win is possible but we need to start capitalizing on top 5 finishes. I got a couple years left in me until I get my daughter is ready and I hand the reins to Allexus Tapp.

TSW: Which track do you call “home”?
Bryan: Creek and the old Tulsa speedway have always been home. I really want the new Tulsa Speedway to be successful because my roots run deep there with my father Gary Tapp
