CCR Bounces Back From Hard Crash

On May 14th at Heart of Texas Speedway in Waco, Texas, Chris Coker was in the hardest crash of his career, which left the car in ruins. After some long hours by Dean and the rest of the team, CCR was able to bounce back this weekend in Texarkana on Friday and Mesquite on Saturday.

The team traveled to the Arkansas side of the boarder for a Lucas Oil ASCS Regional event at 67 Speedway. After getting stuck in traffic the team was forced to press four hours of prep work into one. Ultimately missing hot laps, Chris put the new car on the track for the first time in his heat race. Using the heat race to shake the car down and make adjustments, Chris crossed the line 8th, setting up for an 11th place starting position in the B main. With just 12 laps to make it into the top 6 and secure a transfer spot into the A feature, Chris went to work.

The race went green to checkered without a caution and Chris picked off a few cars early to move into 8th but it was in turn four when he got by the 7th and 6th place cars at one time to secure the transfer spot. After starting 20th in the feature Chris quickly picked off a few of the back markers, but a little more than half way through the race, a bolt failed on the wing mount causing the wing to slide down obstructing Coker's view, and tossing the car wildly. Blind, Chris flew through turn four on two wheels until safely coming to rest on the front stretch. Unable to get the wing remounted for the restart, CCR would ultimately settle for 17th.

Saturday night CCR turned west and headed to Devil's Bowl Speedway. After some early troubles with the engine, residuals from the hard crash just one week earlier, CCR once again missed hotlaps, but managed to lock in an eighth place starting spot for the feature. Chris took it easy throughout the feature, not pushing the new car beyond the comfort zone, and took home a 6th place finish.
