Balog scores two top ten finishes; hard charger award in All Star season opener
Hartland, Wisconsin (April 19th, 2022) – B Squared Motorsports and the Anderson’s Maple Syrup #17B kicked off their 2022 Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 points championship season this past weekend. Bill collected two top ten feature event finishes, a heat race win and a Hercules Tires A-Main Hard Charger award (+16) at Attica Raceway Park’s annual Core & Main Spring Nationals on Friday and Saturday, April 15-16.
Nearly 50 cars signed in to Friday night’s cold and windy Core & Main Spring Nationals, competing for the 40 lap, $6,000 to win feature event. After being forced to qualify for the feature event through the B-main, Bill and the team lined up 22nd on the A-main grid. Over the next 40 laps Bill was able to move up +16 positions, finishing 6th and earning his first Hercules Tires A-Main Hard Charger award of the year.
“We haven’t been great here at Attica in the past, and with nearly 50 cars it’s easy to miss the show. We didn’t start off where we wanted to but we made the car a little better each time out throughout the night. In the feature, the car was great right from the first lap and I wanted to be aggressive, gaining positions while it was good, we were strong till the finish. I gotta thank the crew (Dennis Gregg, Tristan Forseth and Dave Nissen), I’m happy for them and the sponsors, that was a ton of fun!” said Balog, driver of the CK Contractors LLC, Buesser Concrete, Howard Law, Wayne Corini, CPA, Capitol Senior Services LLC, Rocky Rococo's Pizza, Turn It Up Media sprint car.
Saturday night, April 16th, was a different path to another top ten feature event performance as the Anderson’s Maple Syrup #17B found qualifying speed and captured their first heat race win of the 2022 season. The North Pole Nightmare secured a great feature event starting position with a third place finish in the Dash redraw and ultimately finished 7th in the evening’s 30 lap A-main event.
“We put a lot of emphasis on improving our qualifying for this season and we found some speed early, we put ourselves in a position to compete for a podium. We’re many steps ahead of where we were last year, we’re fine tuning things. We missed the set up a bit in the feature but to start the year with two consistent feature finishes, a heat race win and a hard charger award in the opening weekend is a good start for the team and our sponsors.” said Balog, driver of the Anderson’s Maple Syrup #17B sprint car.

B Squared Motorsports will continue their 2022 campaign with the Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 competing in the three-race swing through Central Pennsylvania on Thursday through Saturday, April 21-23. Series regulars and the infamous Pennsylvania Posse will collide in visits to Bloomsburg Fair Raceway, Williams Grove Speedway, and Port Royal Speedway in respective fashion headlined with Port Royal’s annual Keith Kauffman Classic awarding $10,000-to-win. The visits to Bloomsburg and Williams Grove will award $6,000 each.
