Brandon Barker Wins Keen Parts 150!

Lee, NH- Mother Nature has repeatedly shown that she isn’t a race fan this season at Lee USA Speedway but track owner Ben Bosowski and general manager John Esburnett rallied the crew and said we are racing today! The track crew with assistance from various drivers, crew members and fans were able to get the track dry only moving the start time back 45 minutes. As a result of the delay heat races for support divisions were removed from the schedule.

Time trials for the Keen Parts 150 for the Open Pro Stocks started out the evenings events. Qualifying order was set by the 2nd round of practice times with the slowest car going first and the fastest going last. The fastest lap in the 2nd was Max Cookson (39) with a best lap time of 14.834. Nicholas Cusack (2) set the fast time in qualifying with a 14.643. The second fastest was Corey Bubar (12x) with 14.653. NASCAR Cup Series star Kyle Busch (51) was the 3rd fastest with 14.660.

The first feature of the evening would be the MLM Diagnostic Services Open Pure Stocks. Sean Nadeau (35) and Andrew Harmon (14) led the field to the green with Harmon taking control of the top spot. Lap 4 would see the 72 of Cody Hodge making the pass for the lead but Hodge would start to get extremely loose on lap 7 and would lose the lead back to Harmon on lap 10. Hodge would retire from the race 2 laps later. Nadeau would assume the 2nd spot and gave chase. Unfortunately for Nadeau he just couldn’t catch Harmon. Sam Mesick in the 38CT would run 3rd and would try everything to get by Nadeau uneventfully. Harmon crossed the line first followed by Nadeau and Mesick respectfully. Kodi Sabins (36VT) crossed the line in 4th followed by the 27 of Corey Caddick. In post race tech Harmon was found to have aftermarket rear control arms and was disqualified.

The O’Reilly Auto Parts Six Shooters rolled out next with Christin Destefano (67) and Trystin Bodwell (17x) bringing the field to the green flag. Destefano would take the lead at the green but it would be a 5 car battle for the lead of the first 11 laps. Destefano would lose the lead on lap 12 to the 25NH of Michael Yeaton. Erin Aiken in the 33A would also get around Destefano on lap 12. Aiken would apply pressure to Yeaton until she was able to use the high side on lap 14 to get around him for the top spot going down the backstretch but Yeaton would make contact with the left rear of Aiken spinning her out resulting in damage to both cars and the yellow flag coming out and ending both of their days. Destefano would assume the lead with Steve Miller Jr. (79) taking over the 2nd spot. Miller Jr. would try everything in the book to cleanly get around Destefano but just ran out of time. Destefano took the win with Miller Jr. in 2nd, Paul Childs (24) in 3rd, Mike Combs (52NH) in 4th, and Patrick Joslin (26) in 5th.

Black Flagged Podcast Ridge Runners took to the track for 20 laps of hard charging action with David Cameron (2) and Carl Gagnon (99NH) setting the pace on the front row. Cameron took the lead at the green but 1 lap in the caution would fly for Derek McKeen (1) coming to rest on the track in turn 3 and Heath DeButts (76) spinning on the backstretch. Cameron would rocket right back into the lead and would cross the line first without much pressure. Gagnon would hold on to cross the line in 2nd followed by the 47 of Brian Caswell, 47C of Dan Caswell and the 59 of Callie Osborne. In post race tech the 2 of David Cameron was found to have an illegal torque converter and was disqualified.

The RaceDayTV Super Streets were next on track with Mike Williams (07) and Patrick Tanquay (79) making up the front row. It was Williams that jumped out into the lead until a lap 3 caution for Tanquay spinning out of turn 2. Williams would be joined by Robbie Bodwell (42) on the front row for the restart. Bodwell would use the top side to take the lead with Williams in tow. The battle for the third spot would heat up between the 33JR of William Clement Jr. and the 01 of Bill Helliwell. Williams would get a little loose on lap 7 which would allow Clement Jr. to get underneath him and take the 2nd spot. Helliwell would follow Clement Jr. under Williams. But on lap 10 Helliwell found his way around Clement Jr. for the 2nd spot. Bodwell would hold off all challenges to take the win followed by Helliwell, Clement Jr., Donal Belisle (7) worked his way up to 4th place and Williams rounded out the top 5. In post race tech the 33JR of William Clement Jr. was found to have illegal spoiler height.

The last race of the evening was the Keen Parts 150 for the Open Pro Stocks. Nick Cusack (2) and Corey Bubar (12x) led the field to the green with Bubar taking the early advantage leading the first 24 laps of the race before surrendering the lead to the 39 of Max Cookson. Cookson would manage to hold the lead thru numerous restarts and challenges until lap 93 restart when Bubar was able to retake the lead. Joey Doiron (73) had worked his way thru the field and was able to follow Bubar by Cookson to take the 2nd spot. Doiron would use a lap 99 restart to take over the top spot from Bubar. Brandon Barker (32) used the outside line to get around Bubar and began to give chase for the top spot. Barker would use a lap 118 restart to briefly take the lead from Doiron but Doiron wasn’t going to stand for that and was able to retake the lead on lap 121. After a brief red flag on lap 134 for a multi car accident that had the track blocked in turns 3 and 4; Doiron and Barker would dance again on the restart. Barker would get the jump and take off like a rocket out of a cannon. Doiron would drop back to fourth place as Cookson and Joey Polewarczyk Jr. (97) slipped by. As Barker started to give himself some breathing room a 3 car battle ensued for the 2nd spot between Cookson, Polewarczyk Jr. and Doiron. Doiron moved himself in the 2nd spot on lap 147 with Eddie MacDonald (17MA) moving into the third spot on lap 149. At the line it was Barker for the win followed by Doiron, MacDonald, Polewarczyk Jr., and Derek Kneeland (90K). Kyle Busch (51) fought an ill handling car the entire race but was able to avoid numerous incidents to cross the line 6th. Post race tech found the 17MA of Eddie MacDonald had an unapproved tire change and was disqualified.
