Trey Mills kicks off 2024 season with Sunshine Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park

Trey Mills opened up his 2024 season on Friday afternoon with a trip to Volusia Speedway Park (De Leon Springs, Fla.) for the DIRTcar Sunshine Nationals opener after Thursday's event fell to weather.

In a stacked field of 56 World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series drivers, Trey qualified and lined up in heat three before getting collected in someone else's mess. With damage to the his racecar, Trey retired from the remainder of the evening.

Looking for better luck in Saturday's $15,000-to-win show, Mills qualified much better but fell back in his heat race to finish sixth. Needing a Top-2 finish in the Last Chance Showdown to transfer to the A-Main, Trey recorded a fourth-place finish.
