First part of 2019 had its ups and downs
Started the year off 4/13 at the Fabulous Lincoln Speedway after finishing 5th in our heat race that put us starting 9th in the feature. As luck would have it we would get into a skirmish on the back stretch which would end our night.
Loaded up for Delaware INT. for Wednesday 4/17. Finishing 4th in our heat race gave us a starting spot of 7th in the feature. Battling some handling issues in the feature we were able to finish up 7th.
Got the 305 of Brian Nixon’s prepped and ready for Grandview on 4/27. Winning the heat race in the 202 put us in the redraw for the feature. Drawing a 5th starting spot things got interesting quick. Getting run over on the initial start and after several red flag conditions and battling brake issues (Bad Master Cylinder) we retired to the pits to race another day.
With a fresh master cylinder and a Hot Rod prepped for speed we took the Nixon 202 to New Egypt on 5/4. Picking up a 2nd place finish in the heat race put us again in the redraw. Starting Third in the feature and running down first place in lapped traffic, we were able to pass for the feature Win.
Hot off the win at NES, we serviced and prepped the Nixon mobile for Bridgeports 3/8 track on 5/11. Again picking up a 2nd place in the heat race put us in the redraw for the feature. Starting 2nd in the feature and not able to run down the leader we had to settle HAHAHA for a 2nd place finish. Extremely happy with the performance of this car.
Next back to the East Coast USAC series at Big Diamond on the 5/17. After picking up a 2nd place in the heat race it put us starting 5th in the feature. Getting my LR run over on lap 2 ending up with a bent RF wheel and a flat tire we weren’t able to get it changed in time and didn’t finish the feature.
With the wingless car fixed back up and ready to go, we headed down to Bridgeports 3/8 with the USAC East Coast on 5/26. Picking up the win in the heat race gave us a starting spot of 4th in the feature. Missing the suspension set up we hung on for an 8th place finish. But hey, we finished and got some data for a slick track set up.
Uncharacteristically for our team to have some DNF’s but picking up a win and a second place, we are looking to smooth out the rest of the season with the wingless car and the 305. In between keeping those 2 cars going we are getting the 410 car ready and should have it out in a few weeks possibly.
Thank you for everyone’s support this year
