Bellm Set for ASCS Speedweek Battle

Lonnie Wheatley, NIXA, Mo. (June 9, 2017) – Kyle Bellm and the Resource Asset Management Solutions (RAMS) No. 14k Sprint Car team have been limited to just ten starts thus far in 2017, thanks in large part to Mother Nature.

That’s all about to change though, as Bellm and the PPG Automotive Finishes/Colorvision team take on seven races at seven different tracks over the next nine nights in the form of ASCS Speedweek.

With just six Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour events in the books thus far, the Speedweek events can do a lot to shake up the points race and an opportunity for the VP Racing Fuels/Schure Built Suspensions entry to climb the charts.

“We dug a little hole with a couple of bad nights early on,” Bellm says. “We’ve had really good speed lately and the car has been working well."

Speedweek action begins with Friday night’s card at Lubbock’s West Texas Raceway.

“That’s the one question mark of the week,” said Bellm of his first visit to the Lubbock racetrack.

From there, action moves on to Amarillo’s Route 66 Motor Speedway on Saturday night. “We had a couple of issues there last year, but we have some good notes and a good starting point for that one now.”

The remaining five tracks are all definitely in Bellm’s comfort zone aboard the Christian County Collision Repair/Bybee Lawn Care entry.

“We’ve had success and good runs at all the other tracks, so we feel good about all of those,” Bellm says.

With two nights off after the Amarillo card on Saturday, action resumes on Tuesday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, TX, before moving on to Oklahoma’s Lawton Speedway on Wednesday. The Schaeffer Oil/Prater Designs/The Engine Heater team travels northwest to Creek County Speedway near Tulsa on Thursday and then into Missouri at Moberly’s Randolph County Raceway on Friday and then the Speedweek finale at Wheatland’s Lucas Oil Speedway.

“It’s a real good opportunity to make up a lot of ground,” the third-year Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour competitor commented. “We’re looking forward to, we’re looking for some good runs over these next nine nights.”

Inclement weather and a quick trip to Montana to pick up a new toter-home limited Bellm to just two starts in the month of May. He posted runner-up finishes in both of those starts to establish some momentum going into Speedweek.

2017 Quick Stats: 10 races, 4 top-fives, 4 top-tens.
