Bellm Grinds Out Texas Double - Sedalia Up Next

Lonnie Wheatley, NIXA, Mo. (May 19, 2016) – Kyle Bellm sets his sights on Friday’s ASCS Warrior Region event at Sedalia’s Missouri State Fair Speedway after grinding through a pair of Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour nights at Fort Worth’s Texas Motor Speedway last weekend.

Bellm drove the Resource Asset Management Solutions (RAMS) No. 14k Sprint Car into the feature on both Texas nights against a stout field of more than 40 competitors to close in on the top ten in series points.

“It wasn’t great, but we did make the show both nights,” Bellm says. “It could have been a lot worse.”

With an abrasive surface in play on both nights, Bellm and the PPG Automotive Finishes/Colorvision crew raced through heat race, qualifying race and “B” Main action on both nights to make the feature starting grid.

“We got going pretty good in the B,” Bellm said of Friday’s opener. “We just got put behind the eight ball early and couldn’t really recover. We had a fast car though, we turned the fifth quickest lap in the feature although we just finished 17th.”

Saturday brought more of the same for Bellm and the Schure Built Suspensions/Christian County Collision Repair team, once again racing through the “B” Main to transfer to the feature.

“We were pretty fast again, I tried to take a few things happen on the starts and that probably cost us some positions,” Bellm said after posting a 16th place run.

“I have to thank Derald Kannady, Jeff Lawrence, Dustin Gates and Cody Crabtree for all their help in Texas,” Bellm comments. “All their help made a long weekend a lot easier to get through.”

Last year’s series Rookie of the Year, Bellm moved closer to a top-ten ranking with a trio of early June events through Indiana and Michigan next on the docket for the Bybee Lawn Care/Dynotech Racing Engines team.

But first, Friday’s $2,500-to-win ASCS Warrior Region event at Sedalia’s “Historic Half-Mile” awaits the Schaeffer Oil/Prater Designs/Racinboys entry.

“We were pretty decent there last time with a fourth place finish, hopefully we can improve upon that a little bit this weekend and possibly take a win,” Bellm concludes.

2016 Quick Stats: 12 races, 1 win, 2 top-five, 3 top-tens.
