Midwest Sprint Touring Series

Historic Sioux Center MSTS Showdown this Thursday

For the ninth time in history, sprint cars invade the Sioux County half-mile raceway this Thursday night. The Property Solutions of America Midwest Sprints Touring Series headline the Sioux Speedway event that also features the T&R Contracting Late Model Street Stock Touring Series and Stock Cars.

Jack Dover leads the charge into the weekend, recently claiming back-to-back wins at Wagner Speedway which propelled the Springfield, Nebraska, driver into the top position in the MSTS points standings. Dover now has five MSTS wins on the season.

Lee Grosz has one MSTS win so far in 2018 and now sits second in the season-long standings. The Hardwood, North Dakota, driver is just ahead of Iowa’s Jody Rosenboom who has one victory on the MSTS trail in 2018. A pair of prior MSTS champions complete the top five in the standings. 2017 champion Ryan Bickett is fourth with 2015 champion Eric Lutz fifth. Both have one win this season.

Brant O’Banion, Gregg Bakker, Tommy Barber, Chuck McGillivray and Cody Ledger are the second five in the season tally.

History will be a key word Thursday. The land of Sioux Speedway is likely to become the location of a new high school for the Sioux Center Community School District. If plans are finalized in a timely manner, Thursday’s event is likely the final race at the track that dates back to 1972.

Previous winners of Sioux Speedway’s Sprint Car Showdown include the following:
2010 - #4 Jon Agan (Knoxville, IA)
2011- #11X Gregg Bakker (Sioux Falls, SD)
2012 - #21K Lou Kennedy, Jr. (Winnipeg, MB Canada)
2013- #21 Brian Brown (Grain Valley, MO)

2015- #1M Danny Lasoski (Dover, MO)
2016 - #6 Carson McCarl (Altoona, IA)

The event is also a Buffalo Wild Wings Blazin’ Bonus event. All drivers who compete in the five Blazin’ Bonus events in 2018 receive $820 from Buffalo Wild Wings.
