Tanner Mullens
Mullens second in the 2023 lidlifter at Vado Speedway Park
Getting an early start to the 2023 campaign, Tanner Mullens traveled to Vado Speedway Park (Vado, N.M.) on Saturday afternoon to pilot his Fuqua Trucking No. 02 Modified for the Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout.
With 53 Modifieds packed in the pit area for the 17th edition of the six-race event, Tanner’s impressive 10th-to-4th showing in his heat race placed him on the second row for the opening night feature. Chasing race-long pacesetter Jake O’Neil to the checkers in the 25-lapper, Mullens raced to a runner-up performance with Dan Ebert rounding out the podium.
On Sunday, Mullens followed up a sixth-place in his heat with a 10-lap consolation victory. Wheeling his way into the top-10 in the feature, Tanner passed 10 cars in the 25-lap affair to register a seventh-place finish.
