Fifth-place finishes at Tri-State and 81; finishes second in USMTS standings

With a heat race victory placing him on the second row for the opening night feature, Mullens dropped one spot in the 40-lap affair to place finish fifth. He trailed Dan Ebert, Terry Phillips, Dereck Ramirez, and Joe Duvall to the checkers.
In a field of 31 USMTS entries on Friday at Lakeside Speedway (Kansas City, Kan.) for the Kansas City Sizzler, Tanner went from seventh-to-fourth in his B-Main after placing seventh in his heat. With $10,000 on the line in the feature, Mullens passed 12 cars in the 40-lapper to register a seventh-place finish.
For the USMTS season finale on Saturday at 81 Speedway (Park City, Kan.), Mullens secured his spot into the $10,000-to-win A-Main with a third-place finish in his heat. Wheeling his way into the Top-5, Tanner advanced seven positions to cross the line in fifth.
Tanner finished second in the final USMTS point standings.
