Carson McCarl – An Almost Perfect Night
Dallas, TX (July 4, 2019) – Carson McCarl just missed out on a perfect night with the Sprint Invaders last Saturday at 34 Raceway, as he finished second in the night’s main event. Carson will have the Cressman Enterprises/Jetco Electric #27 ready to roll for two nights of action this weekend at the Knoxville Raceway, where he’ll be searching for his second win of the year on Friday in his 360, before making his season debut in a 410 on Saturday!
With Knoxville Raceway having last Saturday night off for the Jackson Nationals, Carson made his way down to 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa on Saturday to take on the 360 Sprint Invaders. The night started off quite well for McCarl, as he was able to pick up the win in both his heat and the dash. “The car was running great early in the night,” said Carson. “I definitely felt like we were the car to beat early in the night, but the draw after the dash hurt us a bit.”
After winning the dash, Carson drew the six in the redraw, setting him up for a start on the outside of the third row in the A-main. Eventually rolling off fifth due to another driver’s scratch from the feature, McCarl would get out of the gates fast. “We were able to move into the top three pretty quick after we took the green flag,” said Carson. “The car felt really strong over the first few laps, but as the track slicked off, it became clear we had missed the setup a bit.”
With the late race misfortune of leader Kaley Gharst, Carson found himself in second with the chance to make a run at leader John Schultz, however McCarl would have to settle for the runner-up spot. “We just couldn’t find a way around Schultz,” said Carson. “It would have nice to have been able to pick up the win and complete the perfect night, but still a pretty solid run for us and I’m excited for two nights at Knoxville this weekend.”
For those of you who looked through the results from 34 Raceway and were surprised when you didn’t see the #27 next to Carson’s name, it was all due to a matter of points. “I had the #17A on the wing for last Saturday,” said McCarl. “Austin had a good run at the Invaders first show of the season at Eldon, so with my runner-up finish, we should be near the top of the owner points right now.”
Carson will be back with the usual #27 Cressman Enterprises/Jetco Electric ride this weekend for two nights of action at the Knoxville Raceway! Friday night will see McCarl trying to grab the points lead in the 360 from Ryan Giles, before dropping in the 410 for the first time on Saturday.
