Morriseau, McDonald, Audette Take First Time Feature Wins, Guyot Wins Trucks

Lake of the Woods Speedway was back in action with the Winnipeg Super Trucks in town for 2020! After a brief rain delay and some hot laps, racing started out with the 4-Cylinders heat showing seven cars at the green flag.

It was Nick Krause taking the early advantage over Jamie Tates, but Mercedes Audette was the one to watch during the first race of the night, hard charging herself from the sixth position to second under the checkered flag.

In the feature event, it was Audette starting on the inside of row two, making a gutsy move with rookies Hayley Moncrief and Logan McDonald. Krause would try everything he could to gain some speed, but Audette dominated the race taking her first feature checkered flag! Alexander Farr rounded out the top three.

In the WISSOTA Pure Stocks, a total of eight cars checked in, but during track packing, first time racer Zachary Valiquette had an electrical issue and Jaymie Weir suffered engine problems.

The heat race had veteran Derek Pollock come from sixth place and pass last week’s Sunday winner, Michael Copp on the outside of the backstretch to claim the win.

The feature was a much different affair. Rookie Bryson McDonald had a tough go in the heat, having started first but fell back to fourth until recovering to third. Starting on the pole, McDonald hit the pedal to the metal and never looked back. With Pollock and Copp fighting for second place, McDonald cruised to his first ever victory in stock car racing.

Q104 WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds saw the top three start and finish in order due to the amount of hammer down speed that was going on. However, in the feature, Tom Morriseau rocketed up the field coming from the fourth position to take the lead about five laps in. Once he cleared traffic, there was no way
Nick Audette was going to catch up. Congratulations to Tom Morriseau for his first win at Lake of the Woods Speedway!

The Winnipeg Super Trucks had a battle in both the heat and feature. It was Rick Lowey to hold off the hard charging Eric Guyot to win the heat race. In the feature, Guyot battled from third place fighting with Lowey side by side for several laps. After some bumping and rubbing, Guyot was able to slide past the heat winner and took off like a cannon after making the move, taking the checkered flag.

Lake of the Woods Speedway returns to racing action on Friday, August 21 with Hot Laps at 6:45pm and Racing at 7:00pm. Pay-Per-View and On Demand available at www.cooleddown.tv
