The final tune up before the 2021 running of the Dirt Kart Nationals at English Creek Speedway drew a 30 kart field in the box stock division.
After everyone completed their time trials, three drivers were in the 12.2 bracket topped by Wyatt Miller from Statesville, NC. The time trials lined up the four heat races.
Heat one winner was Miller from the pole with Tommy Tanner and Cruz Dickerson transferring straight to the A Main.
Heat two went to pole setter, Taver West with Hunter Hanson crossing the line in second. Sierra Rose Gary moved up three positions to lock herself into the main event.
The third heat was also won from the pole with Nikki Ballard continuing her strong showing on the track this year as the point leader in the box stock class. Karter Heiskell moved up two positions in his first visit to the track this season to make a transfer to the feature event.
The final heat race was led most of the way by outside pole starter, KC Sparks, but Kinser Groves found a good line and made the pass to claim the final heat victory with Sparks settling for second and going straight to the A Main.
With the heat races in the books, the radar revealed a strong line of storms moving into the area and before the final 500 open heats could be concluded, the rains began forcing the rest of the show to be cancelled. No make-up date for the features has been determined at this point.
