Student Night at the North/South Sprint Car Shootout
8/22 1:00 PM update: Race Fans: We are a go for tonight MSTS 360 and Nebraska 360 Sprints. Management has decided to race even if there is a brief shower. We may push the show back but we will try our best to run.
Jefferson, SD- Park Jefferson Speedway will be host to the North/South Sprint Car Shootout presented by Bekins Fire & Safety. Park Jefferson Speedway is offering FREE grandstand admission this Saturday to all students 22 and under with a school or college ID, report card or schedule. Bring your student ID, report card or schedule to the races and present it at the main gate for a free ticket. Special prizes will also be given away throughout the event. 360 Sprint Cars from the Midwest Sprint Touring Series based in South Dakota and Minnesota will come from the north to race against the Nebraska 360 Sprint Car Series.
Drivers from the Nebraska 360 Series will battle drivers from the Midwest Sprint Touring Series. Drivers expected to attend from the Nebraska 360 Series include Billy Alley, who is coming off a top 20 finish in the A Main of the Knoxville Nationals, “The Gasman” Jack Dover, Cody Ledger and Jordan Boston. From the Midwest Sprint Touring Series, we expect to see point leader Eric Lutz, “Flyin” Ryan Bickett and Gregg Bakker.
Sign Masters Modifieds, J&J Fitting Stock Cars, Pederson Machine Sport Mods, Hobby Stocks, and Sport Compacts will also be racing as the point season winds down at the Speedway. This is the 2nd to last point night, with the season championship night coming up on Friday September 18th. Bob Moore holds a slim 3 point lead over Jim Thies in the Sign Masters Modifieds. Justin Regnerus holds a 3 point lead over Paul Wenzlaff in the J&J Fitting Stock Cars. Todd Boulware has an 11 point gap on Karl Brewer for the top spot in the Pederson Machine Sport Mods. Andy Hoffman holds a 3 point lead over Mike Hanson in the Hobby Stocks. Only 5 points separate the top 4 in the Sport Compacts, with Cody Boulware slightly ahead of Andrew Vogt, Corey Frye, and Aaron Edwardson.
“Our local competitors have some tight point battles going and with this being the second to last night, every point will count. In addition, drivers are starting to get ready for the Iron Cup so guys will be using this chance to try out different set ups to get their cars right for the big show in September” state GM Greg Golden.
Gates will open at 5pm with hot laps at 6:30 and racing at 7:00. Tickets for adults are $17. Park Jefferson Speedway is offering FREE grandstand admission to all students 22 and under with a school or college ID. Bring your student ID to the races and present it at the main gate for a free ticket.
Park Jefferson Speedway is located 10 miles north of Sioux City off exit 4 on I-29. Lodging is available at the Days in North Sioux City, the closest hotel to the track.
