Drake Troutman wins at Bedford Speedway

Thus far into the 2021 campaign, Drake Troutman has been digging deep to find the handle on his Smith Transport / RFI Resources No. 7 MB Customs Race Car / Lasalle Racing Engine Super Late Model, and on Friday night he was able to achieve his goal.

The talented young driver scored his first Super Late Model win of the 2021 season on Friday night at Bedford Speedway. The victory brought his season win tally to seven.

“We’ve been really good in the Modified all year, but the Late Model has been a challenge for me. However, we had a great car and I did my job on Friday night at Bedford, and we got the win,” Troutman said. “We weren’t bad at West Virginia Motor Speedway either, and a third-place is something we’ll definitely take and build upon.

“It’s awesome to have wins in three different divisions so far this year, and we are definitely excited about what the rest of the season could hold.”

With the Renegades of Dirt Modified weekend in Illinois wiped out by Mother Nature, Drake Troutman made the short trek to Bedford Speedway (Bedford, Pa.) on Friday evening to enter his Smith Transport No. 7 Late Model into competition. In a field of 11 cars, Troutman fell back to second in his heat race after bobbling while leading.

Receiving the pole position for the A-Main via the invert, Drake held off Jeff Rine to record his ninth win of the season. He topped Shawn Jones, Matt Sponaugle, Trevor Feathers, and Rine at the line.

Returning to action on Sunday, Drake traveled to West Virginia Motor Speedway (Mineral Wells, W.Va.) for the return of the 5/8-mile oval. In a field of 18 Valvoline Iron-Man Northern Series entries, Troutman secured his spot into the $8,000-to-win A-Main with a third-place finish in his heat.

After a handful cautions slowed the 50-lapper with tire issues, Drake scored a third-place finish when the checkered flag flew. He followed Jonathan Davenport and Devin Moran across the line with Colton Flinner and Ed Shuman rounding out the Top-5.
