Fighting Through Growing Pains
PETERSEN MEDIA: In the midst of an extended stay in California, Destiny Motorsports and Craig Dollansky continue to work on their program as they compete with the World of Outlaws series.
“We struggled through another weekend, and have some work to do yet to get us competitive like we need to be,” Dollansky said. “It has been a frustrating start to the season for us, and we continue to work together and communicate to get our program stronger.”
In action Saturday night in Chico, CA for the Mini Gold Cup, the team struggled for speed on a slick surface, as the MonDak Portables/Aggressive Hydraulics/Benic Enterprises machine timed in 25th quickest before finishing seventh in the heat race.
Failing to get out of the Last Chance Showdown, Dollansky and company looked to regroup as they headed to the Antioch Speedway on Sunday night.
A wet, and fast surface greeted teams on this night, and ultimately created very narrow racing conditions.
After timing in 21st in time trials, Dollansky would grab a position at the start of his heat race to earn the fifth and final transfer position into the feature event. With the track continuing to stay hooked up, the Elk River, MN native would roll off in the 21st positions for the 30-lap feature event.
From the back of the pack, Dollansky would try to make something happen on the congested Antioch Speedway, but passing on this night was at an extreme premium. Able to pick up a few positions during the feature, Dollansky would end the weekend with a 19th place finish.
“When things aren’t going well, it is difficult to keep team morale up,” he added. “I am optimistic that we will work through this adversity, and get competitive. To win races and run up front on the World of Outlaws tour, it takes a solid team, hard work, and long hours with a lot of attention to detail.”
