Paul McMahan 10th During World of Outlaws First Visit to Angell Park Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Making his first ever start at the Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, WI on Sunday night with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series, Paul McMahan had a nice showing that saw him time in fifth fastest before finishing 10th in the feature event.

“It was a pretty good night for our race team,” McMahan said with a smile. “We timed in well, had a close call in our heat race, but were able to run pretty well in the feature event and get another Top-10.”

With 37 cars checked into the historic facility for the Corn Fest, McMahan would lay down a great lap during time trials as he timed the MonDak Portables/Ft. Union Supply and Trading/Rick Rogers Construction No. 7 machine in fifth fastest in time trials.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, McMahan would avoid a near disaster in the opening lap but would be relegated back to a fourth place finish. Not what he was hoping for, McMahan’s finish would move him into the feature event, though he would grid the field from the 13th starting position.

From the seventh row, McMahan would have a very good car as he went to work on the cushion that built up along the wall all the way around the track. Though he would have some trouble at times and make contact with the wall on a pair of occasions, McMahan would work his way into the Top-10.

Nursing a little bit of damage after smacking the wall, McMahn would hold strong in the Top-10 as he battled Jacob Allen and Jason Sides.

When the 40-lapper came to a close, McMahan would take the checkered flag with a 10th place finish.

“I think we were even better than a 10th place car, but the cushion got a little tricky and we knocked the ladder out of our car, and that gave us a little challenge,” McMahan said. “Thanks to the guys for working hard, and hopefully we can have a good showing near the MonDak Portables headquarters this weekend.”
