Cottage Grove, Oregon- Although he has not won a World of Outlaw Sprint Series event at Cottage Grove Speedway yet, Paul McMahan will look to change that on Wednesday September 9th when the “Greatest Show On Dirt” returns to the historical 1/4-mile clay oval. In his last three visits he has placed in the top ten all three times. His career best finish with the WoO when they have been at CG was in 2011 when he finished sixth in the main event.

“I always look forward to going back to Cottage Grove, it's a neat little place,” commented McMahan, “it’s a small, round racetrack that the back straight away you really never get straight on. It always puts on a great race.”

McMahan, originally from Elk Grove, California but now residing in the Nashville, Tennessee suburb of Hendersonville, does however have some success in non-World of Outlaw races at CGS. The former NARC California Speedweek winner and Calistoga Speedway champion won a main event at the facility on June 11th, 1996 in a local/non-sanctioned event and finished fifth with the American Sprint Car Series-National Tour back in 2009.

In 2015 McMahan won the opening leg of the Winter Heat Showdown on January 2nd at Cocopah Speedway in Yuma, Arizona in the CJB Motorsports/Bair's Tree Service/All-Star Performance/Nyce Crete & Landis #51 GF1 owned by Chad and Jenn Clements. Against the World of Outlaw Sprint Series he enter this weekend sixth in points with two main event wins, twenty-four top five finishes, forty-three top tens, and four quick time awards. Wins came at Perris Auto Speedway in California on April 18th and a few weeks later at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana on May 3rd.

“I don’t know who does the track but back when Brian Crockett used to do the track, the track was always in good shape,” he continued to say, “you could start just about anywhere and get to the front. That’s what we look forward to when we go racing is many grooves and being able to pass.”

He will be happy to know that Brian Crockett will be doing the track prep yet again. To order your tickets simply contact Cottage Grove Speedway General Manager Heather Boyce at (541)-729-8666.
