Big-Money Tim Shaffer Does It Again
ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. — Chalk up another big-money victory for Tim Shaffer.
The Aliquippa, Pa., sprint car driver banked $27,000 for winning Dirt Classic 5 at Lincoln Speedway on Saturday night.
Driving the familiar No. 49x, which Shaffer also drove to victory in the $100,000-to-win Sprint Car World Championship at Mansfield Motor Speedway in May, came on strong late in the event.
Lance Dewease took the lead from outside the front row and led J.J. Grasso and Shaffer through the majority of the event. Shaffer passed Grasso for second following a lap-29 restart and made his run around Dewease five laps later.
From there, Shaffer pulled away to beat Grasso to the checkered flag by 1.866 seconds. Dewease finished third with Danny Dietrich and Matt Campbell rounding out the top five.
