Danny Lasoski Seeks a Repeat in the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup Twin 30’s at Lernerville Speedway: Double Features Highlight Race Program Again in

Sarver, PA—July 6, 2010—From the first time he turned a wheel at Lernerville Speedway back in 1992, Danny Lasoski has always been fast at the historic four-tenths-mile located in Sarver, Pennsylvania. He had been trying for many years to win at the track, finishing second on four occasions before finally breaking through and reaching Victory Lane last season in the opener of the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup Twin 30’s. Coupled with a strong charge from 19th to seventh in the finale, he was crowned the overall Silver Cup winner, adding his name to an illustrious list of drivers that have won the famed event over the years.

Lasoski will return to Lernerville Speedway along with the rest of the World of Outlaws on Tuesday, July 20 for the 19th Edition of the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup, which again this season will have Twin-30 lap features, with the second feature lined up by an inversion of the finish of the opener, which proved to be a very popular format with the fans last season. The event remains the single richest one-day show on the circuit, with one driving having a shot at taking home $30,000 if they were to win both ends of the Twin 30’s.

The Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup is also the only time all season that fans will have the chance to see two full A-Feature events in one night, with the best sprint car drivers in the world doing battle for a total of 60-laps of racing.

“The Silver Cup is definitely one we’ll always cherish,” said Lasoski of his win in the event last season. “Don Martin was such a great promoter and a great person, so to win that thing will always hold a special place to me. Gary Risch and his people do a fantastic job over there now. We always look forward to going to Lernerville and especially the Silver Cup. It’s pretty neat for the fans to get to see two races in one night.”

Lasoski has 25 career Top-10 finishes with the World of Outlaws at Lernerville Speedway in 28 starts, with 13 of those being Top-Five performances. He has finished in the Top-10 in 10 of his last 11 starts at the track. In his career with the series at Lernerville he has an average finish of 6.6, which is second only to 20-time series champion Steve Kinser among the drivers competing full-time with the series this season.

“Lernerville is a very unique track and they always have the surface prepared well,” Lasoski noted. “You can race the top, the middle and the bottom. There are always multiple grooves. Last year we had our car working pretty good over there.”

Last year marked the first time in quite a few years that a World of Outlaws event was a Twin Feature. The Silver Cup will be the second inverted race for the series this season as the inaugural Hall of Fame Classic at Knoxville Raceway followed that format earlier this season, with the finale lined up by an inversion of the Top-20 finishers in the opener, though the features were held over the course of two days. A couple of drivers were able to charge from the back to front in that event and last year at Lernerville, Lasoski passed 12 cars in the second segment to earn the KSE Racing Products Hard Charger Award coming from the 19th starting spot to finish seventh.

“You have to watch the track, especially between the features and be able to make adjustments,” explained the 2001 series champion of the Twin feature format at the Silver Cup. “We were able to work on the car last year and made the right changes to work our way to the front in the second feature. They reworked the track after the first feature which helped quite a bit.”

Lasoski is still in search of his first World of Outlaws win of the 2010 season aboard the Casey’s General Store JEI, nearly picking it up at I-96 Speedway in Michigan back in May, leading the first 24 laps of that contest before he lost a rear end. The native of Dover Missouri, who will be one of four former series titlists competing in the Silver Cup, is just outside of the Top-10 in the series standings this season on the strength of 14 Top-10 finishes.

“We’ve been close a few times this year and just have not had the breaks go our way,” he stated. “To win out here, you have to be fast, be in the right spot at the right time, have a little luck as well and have a strong team, which we have here. Hopefully we can take advantage of everything at Lernerville and come out on top again.”

The Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup is one of the traditional events of “The Month of Money” for the World of Outlaws which runs from the middle of July until early August. If Lasoski is able to win the Silver Cup again this season, he would join Steve Kinser, Sammy Swindell, Donny Schatz and Mark Kinser as a multi-time winner of the famed event.

“The summer months is definitely when you want to be clicking on all cylinders with all of the big races on the schedule,” Lasoski said. “We have done well in a number of the big ones over the years and would like nothing more than to win another Silver Cup.”

Along with earning $15,000 for his win in the opener of the Twin 30’s last year, Lasoski earned the traditional Silver Cup, along with a unique trophy for claiming the overall event title. He would like nothing more than to stand in Victory Lane again with the big check and another prized trophy.

“Last year we got the shotgun trophy, this year maybe we’ll get a machine gun,” quipped Lasoski with a smile.
