Deuces Wild!

After starting the season out a perfect 7 for 7, Devin's winning streak ended at the weekly points show at English Creek Speedway on Friday July 17th. The evening started out good picking up the win in the heat race and then picking up the win in the 4th Annual Arlo Goff Memorial trophy dash. It was a great honor having a chance to meet and having a group photo taken after the dash win with the Goff family. It was on to the A-main starting from the pole in Stew Hansen Dodge City Jeep, Bianchi Boys Pizza & Pasta TRR powered Avenger. A concern over the drop in lap times at the end of the dash had the crew changing motors before the A-main. We rolled out on the track and from the drop of the green it felt like i was only going 3/4 throttle. We chased leader Kale Hemsley down in lapped traffic and the yellow came out for a spin with 2 laps to go. We could not stay with Kale on the restart as he cruised to his first A-main win at ECS. After the race we found out that the aluminum platform that Devin rests his feet on had broke on the brake pedal side causing the brake to drag the whole race. We were very lucky to still finish 2nd with that going on. We would of liked to keep the winning streak going for my new marketing partner: Dake Law Office out of Sedalia, Missouri. But we will try to win one for them next week.

Points race #11 July 24th at English Creek Speedway was a night that we all would like to forget about for sure! After taking the wins in the heat race and trophy dash once again that put Devin on the pole for the A-main. After making contact with leader Kale Hemsley on the 2nd lap Devin went to the tail. On the restart it took Devin only 2 laps to get back up front in the lead. We had a highway gear on the kart, so on starts and restarts everyone else could take off quicker than us. As the old saying goes: cautions breed cautions, well that was true on this night. We got taken out and sent to the tail 3 more times after our intial contact that we had on lap 2. Finally after charging back up to 2nd with 2 laps to go there was a yellow for a spin. At that time the promotor decided to call the race leaving us with a 2nd place finish and not giving Devin a chance to make a bid for the win on a green, white, checkerd after having to go to the tail 4 times. The race reminded us of the movie Days of Thunder. It had to be exciting for the fans and that is what it is all about. We were very disappointed, but that is the call that he felt was right and we will move on from here. There are only 4 more points races left and going into this race we had a 96 point lead.
Devin would like to thank his marketing partners: Stew Hansen Dodge City Jeep, Bianchi Boys Pizza & Pasta, Morris Automotive, Wynn's, T-MAC, Tim & Gina Doogs, Dake Law Office, Bell, Hoosier Tires, TRR, and Avenger Racing Chassis, without these great people he would not be able to live his dream!
