Crate Racin' USA Dirt Late Model Series
Tazewell Speedway Marvin Ford Memorial Event Canceled
Tazewell, TN – Crate Racin’ USA and Tazewell Speedway officials have made the decision to cancel this weekend’s Marvin Ford Memorial $10,000 to win event due to cold temperatures and sustained winds following showers and a cold front moving through the area. With temps forecasted to dip into the 30s, speedway and series officials are concerned with the conditions that will face race fans and teams. While the event is not going to be made up during the 2023 season, details on a makeup event in 2024 are being worked on and will be released with the 2024 Touring Series schedule.
“We were excited to make our return to Tazewell Speedway for the Marvin Ford Memorial event this weekend, but cold temperatures make it difficult for fans and race teams to enjoy the show. Gary and Brad Hall and the Crate Racin’ USA crew have put a lot of work into making the event successful with all the extra bonuses and perks, so we hate to cancel the event but understand the need to have conditions conducive to having a successful event. We look forward to the details and what we come up with when making the event happen in 2024,” stated Adam Stewart, Crate Racin’ USA Series Director.
The Series now turns its focus to the next event on the schedule, the Showdown On the Coast at Golden Isles Speedway in Waynesville, GA. The event will pay $10,000 to win with an Open Practice set for Thursday October 12th, Qualifying and Heat Races taking place on Friday October 13th, and B-Mains and $10,000 to win Feature set for Saturday October 14th.
