DECEMBER 4, 2017 (AVON, IN) – After a couple of weeks of action in New Zealand, Oklahoma's Shane Stewart will return to the states and join forces with D&E Supply to compete in the crown jewel of midget events, the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals presented by General Tire.
D&E Supply is a Tulsa, Okla. based drywall supplier, owned by David Stephenson and Ernie Cothern. The duo will field two cars for the 2018 Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals presented by General Tire with Stephenson and Stewart as teammates.
“D&E Supply of Tulsa has entered cars at the Chili Bowl for the past four years,” said Cothern. “We ran one car in 2015 and then moved up to fielding two cars for the past three years. We see Shane driving the No. 22E Spike/Esslinger car for us as our chance to win the Chili Bowl.”
Despite growing up in nearby Bixby, Okla. Stewart has only competed in the famed event twice. During his debut in 2008, Stewart raced his way into the first of two B-Mains and finished 12th, narrowly missing a coveted spot in Saturday’s finale. In 2016, after a couple of years away to race sprint cars in Australia, Stewart finished ninth in the second D-Main on Saturday night.
“I am really looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of a midget, especially for David and Ernie,” said Stewart. “David has been a family friend for a long time and I have known Ernie for a handful of years. We have been able to do some fun stuff for Make-A-Wish and now we get to team up to take our best shot for that Golden Driller.”
Stewart and D&E Supply would like to thank Dyno Services of Oklahoma, Same Day Auto Repair, Sewell Mechanical, Car & Fleet, Auction Collision and Arrow Construction Resources for their support.
The 32nd Annual Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals presented by General Tire will take place January 9-13, 2018 at the River Spirit Expo Center in Tulsa, Okla. Live Pay Per View will be available on RacinBoys.com and will run every day for all five days, leading up to the MAVTV and LucasOIlRacing.TV live coverage on Saturday.
