September 7th saw Sandusky Speedway crown four different champions across four different series.

The track champions were won by Stephen Klinect in the modifieds, Brandon Halcomb in the Renegades, Carl Smith in the Lake Erie Stock Series and Colton Fowler took home the first Beginner Stocks championship at Sandusky Speedway.

With all four series champions already clinched, the night started off with the 10 lap feature for the Beginner Stocks with Colton Fowler taking the win, but the story of the race was the 17 of Jermaine Kennedy.

Starting in his first ever race at age 12 Kennedy was able to hold his own finishing second in the three car field and even earned praise from the local crowd as well as race director Chris Mize.

In the Lake Erie Stock series, Carl Smith was able to win the track championship despite losing a tire on his car in the heat races. He was not able to compete in the A-Feature, but was able to still win the track championship.

During the 20 lap A-Feature, Michael Bray had the car to beat as he was able to quickly move through the field after starting shotgun on the field and in fact took the checkered flag after passing Wayne Sweeny and Shawn Reinke who had been battling all race long for the lead.

However, after the race was over, it was found out that Bray’s car was illegal and he was disqualified giving the win over to Sweeny.

Next up for the night was the Renegades and the big story was track champion Brandon Halcomb giving up his ride for the night for Justin Stanley. Stanley who normally drives the number 5, was able to take the car to a 3rd place finish.

During the 20 lap feature a big wreck occurred out in turns 1 and two when Tanner Smith, Christopher Stephens and James McKay made contact in the middle of the field.

After the restart the battle for the lead and the win was between Dylan Watson, Sam Stout and Stanley. Watson was able to hold off Stout and Stanley to win the final Renegades race of the season at Sandusky Speedway.

With the championship already clinched for Klinect, the Modifieds took to the track to close out a wild championship night.

Kevin Jaycox looked to be the car to beat as the 25 lap feature wore on, but with a couple late race restarts Jaycox started to fall back before eventually spinning out in the middle of the pack.

Once the dust settled, Preston Walker was able to take control of the race late and sped away with the win.

With the regular season now over for Sandusky Speedway next up for the track is Cavalcade. Cavalcade will take place October 5th & 6th.

On October 5th events will take place at normal times with pits opening at 3, gates and hot laps at 4 and racing at 7.

On October 6th, racing will start earlier with a 2 O’clock start time.
