$20,000-TO-WIN JASON LEFFLER MEMORIAL AWAITS USAC MIDGETS ON OCTOBER 20

Repeating his 2015 “Gold Crown Midget Nationals” sweep, Tanner Thorson of Minden Nev. thrust himself into the 2016 USAC Midget National Championship picture with three consecutive feature wins at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Ill. last Thursday through Saturday.

Thorson now enters the $20,000-to-win October 20 “Jason Leffler Memorial” at Wayne County Speedway in Wayne City, Ill. just nine point out of the lead behind teammate Spencer Bayston in the series standings.

Thorson led the final six laps of Thursday’s 30-lap race after Brady Bacon suffered a flat tire six laps from the checkered flag. Zach Daum took second ahead of Carson Macedo, Chad Boat and Bayston, while Bacon recovered to take sixth.

Friday saw Thorson lead all 35 laps to beat Bayston, Boat, Ryan Robinson and Macedo. Saturday found Thorson leading all 40 laps to beat Macedo, Bayston, Bacon and Robinson. Bacon’s finish was remarkable, recovering from a devastating crash on lap nine.

Thorson’s victories in the Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian TRD/JBL Audio Bullet/Speedway Toyota enabled car owner Mike Curb to tie Wilke Racers/Leader Cards for the all-time USAC National feature victory lead with a total of 136 wins. Curb-Agajanian will now target the October 20 “Leffler” race to become the all-time USAC National feature victory leader.

KSE Racing Products Hard Chargers at Granite City last week were Gage Walker (Thursday), Alex Bright (Friday) and Jake Neuman (Saturday).
