Brad Loyet – Lincoln Podium Highlights Weekend!

(Bill W) July 14, 2015 – A podium finish at Lincoln Speedway in Illinois with the MOWA series highlighted the weekend for Brad Loyet and the Vacuworx Global #o5 team. The team also found speed with the World of Outlaws in two events at Cedar Lake Speedway near New Richmond, Wisconsin Saturday and Sunday. The Sunset Hills, Missouri driver is eying Twin Features night at the Knoxville Raceway in Iowa this Saturday.

Brad would start seventh in his heat at Lincoln. “We were involved in a tangle in the heat,” he says. “We were tapped and spun. That car and another turned over. We had to go to the back, but we were still able to get third.”
He would draw the pole of the Dash, but got penalized a row. “Unfortunately, I guess I got a little overzealous at the line,” says Brad. “I thought I stood on it at the line and the guy on the outside didn’t want to go. Anyway, we went back a row. We were still able to finish second.”

That put Brad outside row one for the feature. “We threw something new at the car,” says Brad. “It was getting kind of slick. It was actually pretty good. We fell back to fourth on the start. We got in the right spot and we were rolling the bottom really well. (Paul) Nienhiser was setting a quick pace. In lapped traffic, we snuck by him and took the lead for a lap or two.”

Unfortunately, the lead was short-lived. “I thought when he saw me go by him on the bottom, that he would go down thinking it was the faster line,” says Brad. “I should have went to the top and took his line away. He got back around me, and at the same time, (Christopher) Bell got hooked up and got by me too. We finished third. It stunk, because I thought we had a car capable of winning. Overall, it wasn’t a bad night and we’ll take those.”

At Cedar Lake, Brad qualified 23rd quick both nights. “I don’t know if the motor we have right now is a qualifying motor,” he says. “It races really well though. The motor we had at the beginning of the year was a good qualifying motor. It’s getting rebuilt, and I’m dying to get it back so we can put it in.”

He would got from eighth to sixth, grabbing the final feature transfer spot in his heat. “We were good in the heat race on Saturday,” says Brad. “We were lucky enough to sneak in there the last lap and get a transfer spot. (Craig) Dollansky may have run out of fuel.”

Brad would move from 22nd to 17th in the feature. “We made some changes on the car that I think helped, but we were still lacking on the exit of the corners,” he says. “We just couldn’t get rolling really well.”

On Sunday, he would again start eighth in his heat race. “We were racing for the transfer, we just couldn’t get by Jason (Johnson),” says Brad. “We did finish ahead of (Brad) Sweet. We had a good car in the B main and we were able to go from seventh to fourth.”

Starting 20th in the main event, he would checker 18th. “Our results didn’t show the speed we had,” says Brad. “We were really good on the top. Once it cleared off, we were picking off cars like crazy. Unfortunately, about halfway through, (Brian) Brown got over the cushion in front of us. His car just died almost. I think we were both lucky we didn’t turn over, but unfortunately for me, it took out my nose wing, bent the front axle and torsion tube. We limped it home to 18th. It was too bad, because I really felt we had a top ten car.”
